Police Department Recommended for Sixth Accreditation; New Officer to be Hired

Police Chief Cooper reported that the department is recommended for re-accreditation for the sixth time, following an on-site visit. This would mark over 20 years of the department operating as an accredited agency. Accreditation requires maintaining policies and procedures that comply with state standards, which can lead to better insurance rates and ensure operations are legally compliant. The department is also preparing to hire a new officer to fill a patrol position vacated by an officer moving to the investigations division, aiming to maintain two detectives.
