Eastport Rockin' 2026 Event to Feature 40 Local Bands and Support Local Charities
The Eastport Rockin' 2026 event, scheduled for June 27, 2026, is an application for consumption of alcoholic beverages on city property with live music. The event will take place on Second Street from Eastern A to Hornpoint Marina. It features four stages with 40 local bands playing original music across various genres. The event supports several local organizations, including the Annapolis Maritime Museum, Annapolis Musicians Fund, Spa Creek Conservancy (water testing), Eastport Elementary, Annapolis Middle School, and the Eastport Volunteer Fire Company. Alcohol sales (beer, wine, liquor) and non-alcoholic mocktails will be available. There will also be a kids' area with dedicated music. The event is run by an all-volunteer board, and the bands volunteer their time, making alcohol sales crucial for fundraising. Attendees will be ID checked at the gate, receive wristbands, and spot checks will be conducted throughout the event. This is a family-friendly community event aiming to raise funds for local charities.
Galway Bay Approved for Expanded Licensed Premises for Multiple Community Events
Galway Bay received approval for extensions of licensed premises for several special events throughout June, July, September, and October 2026. These extensions will allow the use of sidewalks and streets in front of and entrances to the establishment, with alcohol consumption permitted within assigned seating areas. The events include 'Art on the Avenue' (June 4), 'Arts Annapolis Festival' (June 13), two 'Flea Market' events (July 12 and Sept 13), and the 'Maryland Avenue and State Circle Fall Festival' (Oct 18). Galway Bay has a long history, particularly with the Fall Festival, and these extensions are intended to enhance community events and provide additional business for the establishment and other retailers on Maryland Avenue. The setup will be similar to previous years, with fencing and controlled access, and measures to secure outdoor furniture nightly.
Ford Brewing Fined $750 for Second Underage Alcohol Sales Violation
Ford Brewing LLC was found guilty of selling or providing alcoholic beverages to individuals under 21 years of age. This marks their second infraction within a four-year period. The establishment's owner acknowledged the offense, stating that during a sting operation, a server and staff member at the register failed to properly check the ID of a minor. In response, Ford Brewing has implemented a policy of 100% ID checking for all customers, regardless of apparent age, and has reinforced training on carding procedures and identifying signs of intoxication. They have also reviewed their internal policies and conducted team meetings with quizzes and discussions on the severity of such violations. The board fined Ford Brewing $750, noting the previous infraction from November 2024.
Preserve Restaurant Secures Permit for Fifth Year of Parklet Dining
Preserve restaurant was granted a street cafe permit for a parklet in front of their establishment at 164 Main Street, Annapolis. This marks the fifth consecutive year of such a request. The parklet will include 12 seats, planters for aesthetic consistency with city requirements, and new furniture. The restaurant, which closes at 9:00 p.m. most nights and 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, operates with a 'chill clientele' and is recognized as a Washingtonian top 100 restaurant. To ensure security, tables and chairs are secured with a cable, while umbrellas and umbrella stands, along with smaller bar stools, are brought inside each night. The parklet is considered a vital component for the restaurant's sustainability. The application was processed smoothly, and the permit was approved by the board.
