Planning Board Approves Comprehensive Plan Chapters, Defers Marine Resources, Rejects Transitional Zone Proposal
The planning board reviewed and voted on several chapters of the comprehensive plan, including Natural Resources, Natural Water Resources, Existing Land Use, Future Land Use, and Historic and Archaeological Resources. The Natural Resources chapter was approved unanimously. The Natural Water Resources chapter was also approved unanimously. The Existing Land Use chapter was approved unanimously, with discussion regarding footnotes and the floodplain section. A proposed transitional zone designation for parcels east of Claude Street and south of North Street, bordering Thatcher Brook, was debated and ultimately failed to pass due to a tie vote. The Future Land Use chapter was approved unanimously. The Historic and Archaeological Resources chapter was also approved unanimously, with discussion on the limited pre-European history included and the status of a historic district survey. A marine resources chapter was deferred to the next meeting.
