California City Imposes Temporary Moratorium on New Cannabis Business Approvals Amidst Regulatory Concerns
The City Council adopted an interim urgency ordinance (26-833) imposing a temporary moratorium on the approval of new cannabis businesses and the expansion of existing ones. This decision was made in response to documented issues including odor control, spot zoning near residential areas, environmental review challenges, inefficient enforcement and taxation, public safety concerns, utility limitations, and administrative capacity constraints. The ordinance is effective immediately for 45 days, during which applications will be accepted but not approved. Resident Demands Removal of K-Rails at 98th and Redwood, Citing Accessibility and Safety Hazards
