Historic Resource Commission Designates 1018-1020 E Avenue as Historic Resource
The Historic Resource Commission considered the historic significance of the property at 1018-1020 E Avenue. The staff and a third-party consultant recommended against historic designation, finding it did not meet criteria A, B, or D due to modifications and lack of demonstrable historical significance. However, the applicant and several public commenters argued for designation under criteria B (association with Curtis Yeager) and C (architectural integrity). Ultimately, the Commission voted to designate the property as a historic resource under criteria B and D, citing the association with Mr. Yeager and the architectural work of Chris Cosgrove, while acknowledging the City Council's prior determination that criterion C was not met.
