Walt Bradshaw Reappointed to Dyber Electric System Power Board

The board approved the reappointment of Walt Bradshaw to the Dyber Electric System Power Board for a four-year term, commencing July 1st. This request was made by Robbie Richards, president and CEO of Dyber Electric. Walt Bradshaw has served on the board for many years. A motion to approve his reappointment was made by Dennis M. and seconded by Ricky Hammond, and it carried.

Public Hearing Notice Approved for Rezoning of Bowen Lane Properties

The board considered a notice of public hearing for an ordinance that would amend the Dyresburg municipal zoning map. This ordinance proposes rezoning two properties located at 228 and 240 Bowen Lane. The current zoning is M2 medium industrial, and the proposed zoning is R3 high-density residential, not high-density industrial as initially stated. The planning commission has already approved this rezoning. The public hearing is scheduled for June 29th. A motion to approve the notice of public hearing was made and seconded, and subsequently carried.

City to Host Health Fair for Employees on June 4th

The city is hosting a Health Fair for City of Dyresburg employees on Thursday, June 4th, from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the chamber. The event is sponsored by the city and Sigma Healthcare, providing a good opportunity for employees to access health services. Employees are encouraged to attend, and board members are also welcome.

Airport Committee Recommends Attorney Review of Old Terminal Building Lease Proposal

The board reviewed minutes from the Airport Committee meeting held on May 21st, 2026. The committee discussed a proposal to lease the old terminal building, which previously housed a restaurant, for a new business that would include a flight school and other aviation-related practices. The committee recommended forwarding this proposal to the city attorney for review. They also noted that some repairs are needed for the building before the transition can occur. The committee members included Alderman Edward Burks, Alderman Rick Crawford, Alderman Dennis Moody, and Mayor John Holden. Staff present were Purchasing Agent Debbie Harris, Airport Supervisor Diane Dawson, Evan and Lauren Walden. Mayor Holden was elected chairman, and Rick Crawford seconded.

Water Leak Repaired in Rock Springs Area; Boil Water Alert Lifted After Testing

Alderman reported on a water leak that occurred on Saturday night around 6:30 PM, which led to a "Boil Water Alert" on Sunday. City staff worked throughout Saturday night and early Sunday morning to locate and repair the leak in the Rock Springs area. The system is being re-energized, and testing results are expected by 10:00 AM the following morning. Updates will be posted on the city's Facebook page and website. The mayor acknowledged the difficult work performed by the staff and encouraged appreciation for their efforts.
