Chamber of Commerce Secures Increased Sponsorship for 20th Annual Texas Cook'em Event
The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce presented their request for sponsorship for the Texas Cook'em High Stakes 2026 event, celebrating its 20th year. The event, held on July 4th, is described as a quality of life event that draws participants from across the region and beyond. It has grown significantly, with over 12,000 participants last year and a capacity for 20,000, aiming for 15,000 this year. The event features a $12,500 purse for cooks, entertainment including tribute bands, a 5K run, kids' cook'em events, and a car show. New for 2026, Edinburgh is an official block party for America 250 and will feature a 'Night of Champions' with boxing. The event is credited with putting Edinburgh and the region on the map through notable barbecue competitors and tourism. Sponsorship requests have increased from $20,000 last year to $30,000 for this year due to rising expenses, particularly related to the July 4th date and inflation. A motion to amend the sponsorship amount to $30,000 was made, seconded, and passed.
