EMS Commission Denies Firefighter Grievance Regarding Termination

The Fitzgerona EMS District Commission convened to discuss and take action on a grievance filed by Firefighters Local 311 concerning the employment termination of Lieutenant Christy Schnobble. The commission moved to convene in closed session to consider the grievance, which was at step two of the grievance procedure under the collective bargaining agreement. After returning to open session, a motion was made to deny the grievance on the grounds that Lieutenant Schnobble did not meet the minimum qualifications for the paramedic position due to a lack of specific qualifications. The motion was seconded, and after a roll call vote, the commission voted to deny the grievance. The commission directed attorney Troy Thompson to help in writing a decision within 14 days, consistent with the open session decision.
