The council was presented with a timeline for potential bond election decisions.
Property Rezoned for Commercial Use on South Friendswood Drive
The Friendswood City Council considered and approved a zone classification change for a 2.4367-acre property at 2350 South Friendswood Drive. The zoning was changed from single-family residential to community shopping center, aligning with the city's future land use map. The property previously was part of a larger tract and will require replatting. Planning and Zoning had previously recommended approval.
Friendswood Detective Honored as Officer of the Year for Groundbreaking Scam Investigation
During the City Manager's report, Detective Sills of the Friendswood Police Department was recognized as the Galveston County 50 Club Officer of the Year for his work on a major gold scam case targeting elder victims. The investigation led to multiple state and federal indictments and the recovery of significant stolen assets. The report also highlighted departmental achievements including a grant for AEDs for police vehicles, continued StormReady certification, and an upcoming 4th of July celebration. Keep Friendswood Beautiful received a grant for roadway beautification, and the Department of Emergency Services secured another StormReady designation.
Friendswood Active Transportation Plan Presented, Outlines Network Improvements
The Friendswood City Council received a presentation on the Friendswood Active Transportation Plan, which aims to improve connectivity, mobility, and safety for pedestrians and cyclists throughout the community. The plan identifies infrastructure needs and provides recommendations for future investments, supported by technical analysis and community input. Five priority infrastructure projects and numerous smaller sidewalk gap projects were identified, with costs estimated for implementation. City Authorizes Agreement for Utility Relocates Amidst Contractor Issues

This action is necessary because the original contractor, Craig Con, failed to complete the project in a timely and satisfactory manner, leading to the termination of their contract and the execution of the surety bond.
