The Utility Services report detailed the activities of the water, stormwater, and wastewater departments for April. Station two renovations were completed, and preparations for an ISO inspection are underway, with the department aiming for an ISO-rated one status. They also toured the new Wellstar Hospital for pre-incident planning. The department is expecting a new engine next month.

The council also approved ordinances for rezoning 759 Chamberlain Road (parcel 062023 Delta) and 0 Chamberlain Road (parcel 062023 Charlie) from RA to RC1 Residential. Discussions included concerns about traffic, density, stormwater runoff, and the conceptual nature of development plans. It was clarified that Chamberlain Road is a county-maintained road and that any new development must adhere to strict stormwater runoff regulations, ensuring post-development conditions do not exceed pre-development levels. The fire code standards for cul-de-sacs were confirmed to be a minimum of 50-foot radius, and developers must comply with this requirement.

Grovetown City Council Approves Contract with Tyler Technologies for Processing Fees

The City Council approved the recommendation for the city to enter into a contract with Tyler Technologies for processing fees. These fees include $1.95 for e-check users and 3.95% with a $2.50 minimum for debit and credit card users. This change aims to pass the cost of credit card processing onto the users, excluding the court system, and is projected to save the city approximately $167,000 annually in the water and sewer fund alone. The transition is expected to take approximately three months, with effects anticipated by mid-August.
