City of Holland Proclaims June as Pride Month
Mayor Nathan Box proclaimed June as Pride Month in the City of Holland. The proclamation acknowledges the history of the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrates milestones achieved, and recognizes ongoing discrimination. It references city ordinance 1784, which provides protections against discrimination, and the expansion of the state's Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act. City Attorney Reappointed, Legal Service Rates Adopted
Mayor Nathan Box recommended the reappointment of Vincent L. Duckworth as City Attorney for a two-year term, commencing July 1, 2026. The proposed rates for legal services were also adopted. Council members praised Duckworth's service.
Existing Wetland Mitigation Bank Rezoned to Open Space
The city council approved the rezoning of an existing wetland mitigation bank located at 1440 M40, changing its zoning from industrial to open space. This rezoning, affecting approximately 70 acres, was done concurrently with the expansion project to ensure compliance with current zoning ordinances and to remove potential confusion for developers. The existing mitigation bank has been in place for about 15 years, and the airport authority has not experienced any negative impacts from it. The planning commission also recommended approval for this rezoning.

He also mentioned the bike park's grand opening and groundbreaking on Friday at 2:00 PM. Additionally, information on housing TIFF projects is forthcoming, and partners Lakeshore Advantage and Outdoor Discovery Center will be invited to present during the summer.
