City Council Approves Recommendations to Streamline Development Approvals and Permitting
The City Council reviewed and approved recommendations for streamlining community development and permitting processes, following a REAP grant initiative and work with GHD consultants. The project aims to improve user-friendly guides, evaluate policy documents for state compliance, and enhance coordination across city departments. Key recommendations include updating the ADU ordinance to align with state requirements for ministerial approval and pre-approved plans, and improving interdepartmental coordination, particularly with the county fire department, by consolidating review comments into a single letter. The project also developed 15 visual guides for various entitlement and permitting workflows. The goal is to align the city's housing review process with state laws, shift towards objective standards, establish predictable workflows, reduce approval timeframes and costs, and ultimately increase housing production.

The estimated cost to replace the engine is $6,000, which staff indicated outweighs the benefits of repairing an older vehicle. The car had not been involved in any accidents since 2024.
