Consent Agenda Includes Treasurer's Report, Motor Fuel Tax Program Contract, and Lien Assignment

The consent agenda included the city treasurer's report for April 30th, 2026. Additionally, there were resolutions accepting a proposal for materials and awarding a contract for the 2026 motor fuel tax materials program, and authorizing the assignment of a lien to property at 824 North Clay Avenue to the Two Rivers Land Bank.

Western Illinois Youth Camp Facility Enhancements Highlighted; City Pledges Continued Support

The Committee of the Western Illinois Youth Camp has made significant improvements to their facility over the past 15 years, with major contributions from Big Bob Large and ongoing leadership from JJ Richardson, Richard Freeman, and his wife. The committee has enhanced the grounds, creating better facilities for children's activities, and has also worked with the city to relocate mature trees to benefit both the camp's forestry area and city parks. The city plans to continue supporting the camp with infrastructure and labor as needed.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Repairs and Sludge Tank Painting Contracts Approved

Under the Utility committee, three items were presented: 1) A resolution authorizing the waiver of advertisement for bids and accepting a proposal from Petersburg Plumbing and Excavation LLC for repairs to 4-in and 6-in airlines at the wastewater treatment plant. 2) A resolution authorizing partial pay estimate number one with Turner Painting and Construction for cleaning and painting the south 1.6 million gallon sludge storage tank at the wastewater treatment plant. 3) A resolution authorizing change order number one with Turner Painting and Construction for the same cleaning and painting project.

First Reading of Zoning Map Amendment for 502 South Prairie Street Presented

A first reading of an ordinance was presented to amend the Jacksonville zoning map for property located at 502 South Prairie Street, changing the zoning from R3 to B1. No motion was made, and therefore no further action was taken on this item at this meeting.

Juneteenth Celebration and Concert Series Announced

The NAACP is organizing a Juneteenth celebration on June 20th, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, which will take place downtown on the square. The concert series is also scheduled to begin on Friday night.
