Jacksonville Partners with DMV for Scofflaw Program to Collect Unpaid Warrants
The City Council approved an interlocal agreement with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for Scofflaw Services, aimed at improving the collection of warrant revenue for traffic citations and class C misdemeanors. This program will place a hold on vehicle registration renewals for individuals with outstanding warrants, complementing the city's existing hold on driver's licenses. Approximately 3,000 outstanding warrants, totaling about $3 million, are currently on record, with $2 million owed to the city.
Jacksonville's Mid-Year Financial Report Shows Strong Performance
The City Council reviewed and approved the second quarterly financial report for fiscal year 2026, reflecting activity through March 31st. The city is on a stable and positive financial trajectory, with total revenues at $17.8 million (57.7% of budget) and expenditures at $13 million (33% of budget). Key revenue sources like Ad valorem taxes and water/sewer revenues are performing well, while sales tax collections are slightly below projections. Expenditure control is noted, with employee services and utility expenditures being in line with expectations.
