This project aims to reduce the city's peak electricity demand by 10 megawatts, projecting annual savings of $1.8 million. The total project cost is estimated at $11 million, with generators expected to save the city over $37 million in 20 years. This initial engineering phase will focus on design, site selection, and cost analysis, with the full project expected to take 2.5 to 3 years to become operational. Council approved the agreement unanimously.

The general fund's revenues are primarily derived from property taxes (57%), local government sales tax (15%), and state-shared revenue franchise tax (5%). Overall expenditures, including personnel and non-labor costs, averaged 65% of the budget, consistent with previous years.
