City Announces Updates on Health, Reading, and Community Events
Katie Van Shore provided updates on city initiatives. The spring Mayor's Health Initiative concluded successfully at Pedal Park, with plans for a fall initiative. The Mayor's Reading Club began this summer with support from Get Trip Reading and the Rotary Club, and future events are scheduled at the Lraange Memorial Library. Additionally, a Community Day hosted by the Lraange Police Department and District 2 city council members is planned for East Side Park, featuring kickball, food, games, and music.
Lraange Personal Aid Details 103 Years of Community Service and Partnerships
Paul Steedman of Lraange Personal Aid presented an overview of the organization's 103 years of service across Troop, Merryweather, Herd, and Carol counties. He detailed their diverse services including rent and mortgage assistance, prescription refills, medical supplies, transportation for stranded individuals, medical transportation support, and aid with enure, milk, and juice for seniors. The presentation also highlighted specific programs like the Charles Maddox Veterans Assistance Program, the Sharon Roundup program, and the Interfaith Food Closet, which provides food and personal care items. Steedman emphasized the importance of partnerships with organizations like Circles of Lraange, Troop Cares Clinic, Kowanas, Harmony House, and the city of Lraange in extending their reach and effectiveness. He also described their role in administering Charity Tracker, an online database for resource coordination, and their work with Feeding the Valley Food Bank. The presentation underscored the profound impact of small acts of kindness and assistance on individuals' lives.
Pay It Forward 2K15 Highlights Community Support and Partnerships
Melissa (representing Pay It Forward 2K15) presented to the council, detailing the organization's extensive community support efforts. She highlighted partnerships with various organizations such as Troop County Sheriff's Office, ENES LLC, Lraange Fire Department, Empowerment 3D, Mr. Mike Wilson at New Ventures, Councilman Williams, and Councilman Quay. The organization distributes essentials like hand sanitizer, fresh produce, and food, and has been a consistent presence in community support for years. Several council members expressed gratitude for the organization's work and the impact it has on the community, particularly for families and individuals in need.
