City Approves Cost-Sharing Agreement for LiDAR Mapping to Enhance Tree Canopy Inventory

Troy, representing the city, presented a cost-sharing agreement for a countywide LiDAR imagery collection for geospatial mapping. This initiative, in partnership with Snohomish County and the Department of Natural Resources, will involve high-resolution aerial mapping. The collected data will be used to establish a tree canopy inventory, aiding in stormwater management, NPDES reporting, critical areas planning, and aligning with the city's comprehensive and climate action plans. The last available tree canopy data was from 2017, making this a crucial update. The city's contribution to this agreement is $4,362. The council approved the agreement.
