Osborne High School Student Highlights Success of CTE Sports Medicine Program and Internship

Amelia, a senior at Osborne High School, shared her positive experience with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, specifically the two-year sports medicine course. This program provided her with hands-on experience and introduced her to the career of physical therapy through a research project. With mentorship from CTE staff, she secured an internship at Active Reload Health and Performance, located near the Manasses George Mason campus. During her internship, she shadowed physical therapists, assisted with facility maintenance, and contributed to social media promotions. This experience solidified her decision to pursue physical therapy, leading to her acceptance into UVA's kinesiology program with direct admission to their graduate-level doctor of physical therapy program. She encourages other students to explore CTE programs and internships to discover potential career paths.
