744 Florida Schools Designated as Schools of Excellence for 2024-2025
The State Board of Education designated 744 schools as Schools of Excellence for the 2024-2025 school year. This recognition is given to schools performing in the top 20% of Florida schools of the same type (elementary, middle, high, or combination) based on school grade points for at least two of the last three school years. Teachers in these schools receive administrative flexibilities, such as one year of employment counting as 20 in-service points towards their five-year certification renewal.
Duval County Outlines Turnaround Plan for SP Livingston Elementary, Citing Reduced Truancy
Superintendent Chris Bernier of Duval County presented a turnaround plan for SP Livingston Elementary School (Smart Pope), opting for district-managed turnaround. Duval County is currently an 'A' rated district with 99% of students in 'A', 'B', or 'C' schools.
