Milford Inland Wetlands Commission Approves Pool and Patio Project at 110 Pine Knob Terrace
The Milford Inland Wetlands Commission reviewed an application for an inground pool and patio at 110 Pine Knob Terrace. The applicant proposed a 20x38 foot pool with a bluestone patio and landscaping, located within 25 feet of an inland wetland in the Housatonic River watershed. The applicant had the wetlands delineated, received health department approval for the pool and a secondary septic system, and addressed agency questions regarding site access, fill material, filter type, and silt fencing placement. The commission discussed moving the fence to encompass the wetland and addressing a previously located snowmobile trailer. The application was approved with conditions including soil erosion and sedimentation controls, wetland notifications on as-built surveys, and compliance with city engineer storm water requirements. A permit construction bond was required, and the permit was issued with an expiration date.
Parking Lot Expansion Project at 460 BC Drive Faces Delays and Violation Hearing
The Milford Inland Wetlands Commission deferred discussion on a parking lot expansion project at 460 BC Drive, as the applicant requested a continuance to the next meeting. The project involves grading and a storm water system within 100 feet of a wetland in the Housatonic River watershed, including adding a second driveway, enlarging the parking area, and installing a storm water infiltration system. Significant regrading and filling had occurred on the site prior to obtaining permits, with visible but improperly installed erosion controls. The property was in violation for working within 100 feet of a wetland without a permit. The agency recommended accepting the application to start the 65-day review period and requested additional information. A special meeting was scheduled for the following week to address the violation and hear the application, with a site walk to be arranged. Conditions for the application included an updated wetland report, proposed planting plan, and a site walk before the next meeting.
