Mineral Wells Approves Master Service Agreement to Establish Downtown Historic Preservation Program
The city council approved a master service agreement with Stantec for the creation of a historic preservation program and ordinance for downtown Mineral Wells. This initiative aims to protect the city's over 100 historic buildings. The agreement, not to exceed $40,750 and funded by Hot Tax, includes community meetings, ordinance revisions, the establishment of a historic commission, training for a preservation officer, and a process for issuing certificates of appropriateness for renovations. This program is a prerequisite for the city to become a Certified Local Government, enabling eligibility for state and federal grants for historic preservation.
City Council Suspends Texas Gas Service Rate Increase for 45 Days to Allow Review
The city council considered and approved a resolution to suspend the effective date of a proposed rate increase by Texas Gas Service Company for a period of 45 days. This suspension allows attorneys time to review the necessity and reasonableness of the proposed adjustments, which are based on capital expenditures made in the previous year. The proposed increase would affect residential, commercial, and industrial customers, with specific monthly adjustments ranging from $3.58 for small residential customers to nearly $200 for industrial customers.
