Mission Student Recognized for Academic Excellence and Community Leadership

Lucas Garcia, a student from Sherland High School, was recognized by the city of Mission for his academic excellence and leadership. He has received multiple accolades, including the UIL HB scholarship, recognition for athletics where he represented the city at the state level, and was a Coca-Cola scholar and national merit finalist. Garcia has also held leadership positions in state-level organizations such as Texas Business Professionals of America and co-founded a nonprofit, Bridge Builders for Refugees, supporting over 300 families. He plans to attend Dartmouth College to study government economics and public policy, with aspirations for law school and eventually contributing back to the city of Mission. His achievements are seen as an inspiration to other students in the community.
