City Council Approves Street Repairs, Budget Appropriation, and Discusses Community Events
The Moberly City Council approved resolutions for sidewalk improvements on Route E and emergency repairs to Long View Street. A resolution was also passed appropriating over $2.3 million from the city treasury for expenses due between November 26th and December 11th. The council also discussed the Moberly Chamber of Commerce's request to host Junk Junction and Gus Macker, with the Police Chief reporting no issues during previous hosting of similar events, including open consumption of alcohol. The Christmas program organized by the chamber and affiliated groups was praised for its good attendance and positive impact on downtown merchants.
City Council Approves Sewer Easement Bids, Consent Agenda Items, and Amends Procurement Code
The council reviewed bids for easement clearing along sewer mains, receiving four bids for the project and approving them as received. The consent agenda included resolutions for a bulletproof vest grant application, water plant filter valve upgrades, sewer easement clearing, wayfinding signage, and a requisition certificate for project costs. Additionally, an ordinance was adopted to amend city code regarding exceptions to bid procedures for used vehicles or equipment purchasing, and another ordinance was adopted to approve a continuing law enforcement education agreement with the Boone County Sheriff's Department. The council also adopted an ordinance amending city code to subject industrial use users to local limits for biochemical oxygen demand and total suspended solids.
City Council Reviews Online Payment Portal, Mowing Bids, Consultant Services, and Generator Maintenance
The Moberly City Council discussed the need for a new online payment portal, initially considered due to integration issues between Express Bill Pay and Cassell accounting software. However, with Cassell's move to cloud-based hosting, fewer integration issues have arisen, and the project has been tabled pending evaluation for citywide applicability. The council also reviewed departmental reports, noting the bid process for contracting mowing services for parks and campgrounds for the next two years, which is a renewal of a long-standing practice. In the work session, the council considered a reappointment to the Board of Adjustment, reviewed five proposals for design and construction consultant services for small city projects, and received bids for generator maintenance contracts for the utility department.
