Resident Raises Concerns Over Teen Loitering; Chief Addresses Law Limitations
Resident Cengiz Sever raised concerns about teenagers loitering and blocking sidewalks near the high school and at Dunkin' Donuts on Ridge Road. He suggested implementing 'no loitering' laws and issuing fines, citing New York City's approach to 'gang affiliation' for groups of three or more. He questioned the current administration's plans to address these issues and asked if the town views this as a problem. Chief Horton responded that most loitering laws in New Jersey have been deemed unconstitutional and that police are limited by juvenile law, but they do meet with Dunkin' Donuts owners and have officers stationed in the area. He offered to meet with residents to discuss concerns.
