Residents are urged to be respectful and report any equipment issues.
Downtown Project Traffic Flip Imminent; Delays Noted in Signal Hardware and Power Restoration
The City Administrator provided an update on the downtown project, noting an upcoming traffic flip from the east side to the west side within the next couple of weeks. Delays in receiving anchor bolts for traffic and pedestrian signal poles are impacting the pouring of bases and sidewalks. Additionally, Toledo Edison has not yet de-energized two traffic cabinets, affecting certain corners. The contractor is advised to maintain forward momentum by continuing work on the west side and returning for spot installations later. Curb ramps are being cleaned up, and accessible pathways are being maintained with crushed gravel and stone.

The Department of Public Service has created a new supervisor position to oversee mechanics, facilities and building maintenance staff, and the city electrician. Joe Holland, the current city's journeyman electrician, has been identified as the preferred candidate. To accommodate his current wage, which exceeds the hiring range, the city requests approval to place him at pay grade seven, step K, the maximum step for that grade, upon his promotion.

City Urged to Conduct Baseline Environmental Testing Amid Data Center Concerns
During the general council meeting, a concern was raised about potential impacts of data centers in surrounding communities. It was suggested that the city should conduct baseline testing of groundwater, the Baumee River, and air quality to establish environmental benchmarks. This baseline data would help address resident fears and allow for the tracking of any environmental changes should data centers be developed nearby.
