Township Accepting Applications for Police Officer Positions
The township is seeking to fill full-time police officer positions. Applications are being accepted until Thursday, June 4th, at 3:00 p.m. The recruitment efforts include advertising in newspapers and across social media platforms to attract a wide pool of candidates.
School Speed Zone and Crosswalk Safety Questioned for Amisland Elementary
A resident raised concerns about the school speed zone at Amisland Elementary School, specifically regarding the duration and visibility of crosswalks and the placement of speed limit signs. The resident noted that a previously blacked-out crosswalk is already showing wear and is still being used, and inquired about the implementation of 'piano key' crosswalks. The placement of speed limit signs was questioned in relation to the maximum allowed school zone length (1600 ft) in Pennsylvania.
Application for DCED Grant for Ry Hockey Rink Improvements
A resolution was proposed to apply for a DCED grant for improvements to the Ry Hockey rink. The requested grant amount is $230,396.
Library Introduces Home Delivery Service and Reports High April Activity
The library is launching a home delivery service for Ridley Township residents who are unable to visit due to physical conditions, illness, or disability. Items will be delivered monthly and collected the following month. Applications are available online and at the library. The library also received a $300 grant from Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union for enhanced services. In April, the library saw 11,745 visitors, with 13,646 items checked out, and 2,669 attendees at 89 programs. They also processed a record 46 new passport applications.
