Long-Serving City Employee Mr. Sanchez Named Employee of the Month [cite: 205, 213]
Mr. Sanchez was recognized as the Employee of the Month for his 23+ years of dedicated service to the city. He began his career in 2002 at the water treatment plant and has since contributed to wastewater treatment, major water line breaks, and emergency situations. He has over 11 years of specialized experience in metering and played a key role in two major citywide meter replacement initiatives. Fire Department Receives $10,000 Grant for Training Equipment [cite: 1068, 1070]
The City Commission accepted a $10,000 grant from the Texas AM Forest Service for the Fire Department. The funds, which are 100% reimbursable, will be used for rescue training mannequins and smoke machines. [cite: 1067-1077]

Basketball will have an off week due to parking lot work at the school and graduations. Soccer season begins June 5th with over 30 teams registered. Track and field registrations have started, with practices beginning June 1st at Joe R. Sanchez Stadium. The Turkey Trot is scheduled for November 14th.
