Springfield Parks Department Completes April Maintenance, Township Receives 34th Tree City USA Award
The Parks Department report for April indicated completion of various park maintenance and improvement tasks. The township received its 34th consecutive Tree City USA Award.
Springfield Ambulance Reports April Activity; Safety Tips for Warmer Weather Provided
The Springfield Township Ambulance report for April documented 142 calls within Springfield and 155 total medical calls. A safety tip for warmer weather advises drinking plenty of water and taking breaks to avoid dehydration and heat exhaustion. The report also notes VMSC's performance metrics, including a 52-second shoot time and 5 minutes 31 seconds response time for paramedic services, with top calls including breathing problems, falls, and chest pain.
Springfield Ambulance Corps Awards Two $5,000 Scholarships to Graduating Seniors
The Springfield Ambulance Corps sponsors two $5,000 scholarships annually for graduating seniors from Springfield High School, named after William Myers and Greg Plank. William Myers was a WWII medic and top runner for the Corps, responding to over 11,000 calls. Greg Plank was a 32-year educator and served the Corps for over 40 years as treasurer and finance director, responding to 9,820 calls. Recipients are announced at graduation.
