Multifamily Building Improvement Grant Recommendations Presented for Eight Properties
The City Council is considering recommendations for the Multifamily Building Improvement Grant (MFBIG) program, Phase Two, which focuses on implementing sustainability and resilience projects in multifamily rental properties. Eight awardees have been recommended for funding totaling $657,675 from the Maryland Energy Administration, with total project costs exceeding $2 million. These grants aim to help property owners make their buildings more green and sustainable. The program is a partnership between the Housing and Community Development Department and the Public Works Department's sustainability division. The scoring criteria included project need, greenhouse gas emission reductions, cost-effectiveness, building equity considerations, prior grant history, and likelihood of project success. Awardees will undergo grant agreement processes and begin project implementation.
