City Council Approves Special Use Permit for Water Towers After Reconsideration
The City Council reconsidered and ultimately passed Ordinance 225-26, which grants a special use permit for major public utility water towers at 1910 Northover Road. The reconsideration was initiated due to new information presented to Councilwoman McPherson, who had been on sick leave during the initial vote. She emphasized the need to comply with Ohio EPA regulations, which could have resulted in substantial daily fines for the city if the water towers had not been approved. Councilwoman Morris reiterated her opposition, citing constituent concerns about property value loss and the alleged lack of due diligence in finding alternative locations for the two water towers in the neighborhood. Despite her objections, the ordinance passed.
