Jeff Damron Appointed City Administrator Without Contract
The Board of Mayor and Alderman discussed and voted on the permanent appointment of Jeff Damron as City Administrator. A motion was made to end the selection process and offer the position to the interim administrator, Jeff Damron, as a regular city employee without a contract, with responsibilities and benefits outlined in personnel regulations. Concerns were raised about bypassing the standard selection process and the appearance of impropriety, as well as the need to revise personnel regulations regarding grievances and discipline for the City Administrator. After considerable debate on procedural matters and the candidate's qualifications, the motion to appoint Jeff Damron passed with a vote of 5 to 1. Damron expressed his preference to work without a contract under the same rules as other city employees.
