Utility Board Approves Design for Palo Pinto Street Underground Utilities Project
The Municipal Utility Board considered and authorized the city manager to execute a professional services task order with CEC Corporation for the design of relocating overhead utilities underground on Palo Pinto Street. The project aims to convert overhead utilities to underground facilities, create a duct bank for multiple utilities, and coordinate with franchise utilities like ATT and Spectrum. The design phase is expected to be completed by January 1st, 2027, with an estimated cost not to exceed $548,250. This project is being undertaken in coordination with Texas Department of Transportation (TechDOT) repaving efforts on Palo Pinto Street.
Water System Update Highlights Historical Droughts and Current Conditions
The Municipal Utility Board received an update on the city's water system, including historical drought information and current water supply status. The presentation covered major drought periods in Texas history (1930s Dust Bowl, 1950s drought of record, 2011 drought) and their impacts, as well as Weatherford's rainfall history and Lake Weatherford's water levels.
