Right-of-Way Grant Accepted for Utility Extension on 206th Street for Ironstone Development
The Board of Public Works accepted a right-of-way grant from HL Creek for 206th Street in association with the Station 85 project. This grant allows for the extension of utilities across the property, which is part of the future Ironstone development, in advance of the main project.
Design Contract Approved for Casey Road Improvements and Roundabout Construction
A design contract was approved for Butler, Fairman and Ciphert (BFNS) for Casey Road improvements. This includes designing two roundabouts at 186th/Casey and 193rd/Casey intersections, and reconstructing Casey Road between these points. Clark Deetsz is a sub-contractor. The contract is not to exceed $823,585.
Mulebar Road Reconstruction and Intersection Widening Contract Awarded to Midwest Paving
Midwest Paving was awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Mulebar Road between State Road 32 and the Shelby and IMI plants, which includes widening at the intersection of Mulebar Road and State Road 32. INDOT contributed funds to this capital improvement project. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer with a July timeline.
Major Road Widening Project on 191st Street Approved
The Board of Public Works approved a contract with Morphe Construction for the 191st Street road widening project. This project, crucial for the north side of Grand Park, includes a roundabout at Grand Park Boulevard and 191st Street, a Monon bridge over 191st Street, and widening the section between Grand Park Boulevard and Tomlinson Road to four lanes. Morphe Construction was the low bidder at $10.17 million. Construction is slated to begin in late August with the roundabout work.
City Awarded $200,000 Federal Grant for Safe Streets Action Plan
The US Department of Transportation awarded the City of Westfield a $200,000 grant through the Safe Streets for All program. This funding will be used to develop a safety action plan, which involves auditing city infrastructure and providing a framework for improvements. The city will contribute an additional $50,000, making the total contract amount $250,000 for the formulation of the plan by an external firm.
