Michael Cog Appointed Facilities Manager

The report outlines goals for a walkable, vibrant downtown that encourages local shopping and aims to improve the overall quality of life. Recommendations include advancing South Ave/Route 27 improvements, reviewing zoning, implementing the 40R smart growth overlay, redeveloping key properties, and forming a downtown business association.
Multiple Board and Committee Vacancies Available in Whitman
The Board of Selectmen addressed various board and committee vacancies within the town. Current openings include alternate delegate on the AAA advisory committee, Capital Committee, Conservation Commission (two alternate members), Community Preservation Committee (at-large and recreation representative), Historical Commission (associate member), Recreation Commission (voting member and two non-voting members), and Whitman Cultural Council (two voting members). The board encouraged interested residents to contact the Select Board's office.
Whitman Market & Liquor Approved for Premises Expansion and Takeout Kitchen
The board opened a public hearing for J. Marudi Inc. (Whitman Market and Liquor) to alter their license premises at 183 South Avenue. The proposal includes expanding into the adjacent vacant space at 187 South Avenue (approx. 3,246 sq ft), removing the demising wall, adding a small kitchen for takeout only, and expanding grocery offerings. The board approved the amendment to the license, subject to ABCC approval and Board of Health permits.
Former DPW Building to be Leased to Whitman Food Pantry
The Board of Selectmen voted to declare the former DPW administrative building available for disposition, intending to lease it to the Whitman Food Pantry. The disposition will include restrictions for operational use as a food pantry, primarily serving Whitman residents, with potential exceptions for one-time needs. The lease will grant the food pantry use of the entire building for administrative and office purposes. The board will proceed with drafting a triple net lease agreement.
