Despite these challenges, the community's generosity allowed the campaign to reach $75,000, enabling additional funds for partner agencies. Bailey also introduced 'Get Connected,' a new digital platform to modernize volunteer engagement.
Temporary Street Closures Approved for Downtown Summer Events
The City Commission held a second reading and public hearing for temporary street closures for two special events: '3rd on 3rd' on July 3rd, 2026, and 'Rock and Rumble' on July 25th, 2026. Both events will involve street closures on Third Street in the downtown Meridian district. For 'Rock and Rumble,' the closure area was adjusted to be within a single block, as the intersection can no longer be used due to new restrictions, impacting vendor placement.

City Approves T-Hangar Lease Agreement
The City Commission considered approving a lease agreement for Unit #3 of the city-owned T-hangars at Chain Gurnie Municipal Airport to Mr. Michael Christ. This was a correction to the initial mention of a January 1st start date.
