BO Companies History Presentation, Project Updates, and Budget/Ordinance Approvals Mark City Council Meeting

The council meeting included an invocation led by Deacon David Tilly from First Baptist Church, who also extended an invitation to the city staff for an annual event sponsored by his church for city employees. Following the invocation, the council proceeded through several consent agenda items and other business. A presentation was given by Mr. Steven Abear of BO Companies regarding the history of BO Companies and Brussard, coinciding with the release of a book documenting this history. The meeting also featured updates on various city projects from KOMO Engineering, including the Lafayette Street extension, St. Bridge Replacement, Ridge View Bridge, and drainage initiatives. Daniel Hutchinson provided further updates on projects such as the North St. Gene bridge replacement, water sector projects (Garber Road water well improvements, water system generators), the FY 2025-2026 street overlay, Albertson's Parkway water well, and Salmon sidewalks. The council also passed resolutions to designate the Daily Advertiser as the official journal, accept a bid for the Veterans Memorial at St. Julian Park, amend the operating budget for an intergovernmental agreement with Youngsville for an intersection improvement, and amend a concession agreement with Bontton Concessions LLC. Finally, ordinances for the introduction and adoption of the fiscal year budgets and zoning amendments were processed.
