Council Approves 2026 Budget Allocations to Local Agencies
The council approved the disbursement of funds for the 2026 budget to various outside agencies. These agencies include the Bluegrass on the Grass festival, Carile Area STOMA Club, Community Cares, Carile Community Coalition, Carile Joint Veterans Council, Carile Summer Fair, Central PA annual HB.CU College and Workforce Fair, The Learning Tree of PA and Community Garden, Lambertton Community Garden, Project Share of Carile, and YWCA.
Lator Park Pavilion to Receive 16 ADA-Compliant Picnic Tables
Council approved the purchase of 16 ADA-compliant picnic tables and surface mount packages for the Lator Park Pavilion. The purchase will be made from Voice Recreation for a total of $25,717.40 through the Co-Stars contract, pending final review by the borough solicitor and funding approval.
Council Highlights Pool Opening, Infrastructure Tour, School Groundbreaking, and Diverse Community Celebrations
Several council members and staff highlighted upcoming community events and ongoing initiatives. These include the opening of the pool for the summer season with special events like musicians and films, a tour of the wastewater treatment plant emphasizing the importance of public works infrastructure, a groundbreaking for a new school and related multi-use path, a memorial blanket project for the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a program to support the homeless, and celebrations for Pride Month, Juneteenth, and Black Music Month.
Financial Security Reduced for Carile Auto Industries Former IA Site
Council authorized a reduction in the financial security amount posted by Carile Auto Industries Incorporated for the former IA site, lot one. The reduction is in the amount of $65,822.50.
Handicap Parking Spaces Adjusted on Northeast and East Ler Streets
An ordinance was adopted to amend Chapter 244 (Vehicles and Traffic) of the Borough Code. This amendment adds one on-street handicap parking space at 159 Northeast Street and removes one on-street handicap parking space at 131 East Ler Street.
