Planning Commission Recommends Special Use Permit for Pizzeria's Outdoor Kitchen Trailer

The planning commission heard a petition for a special use permit to operate an accessory outdoor food preparation kitchen in a trailer structure, approximately 8 ft by 18 ft, behind the existing Uncle Chuck's Pizzeria at 328 3rd Street. The proposed use is to expand the restaurant's menu to include chicken, in addition to pizza, by utilizing the trailer for food preparation and a pickup window. The commission discussed safety concerns, including propane tanks, electrical hookups, and traffic flow, and proposed mitigation measures such as concrete barriers and nightly removal of propane tanks. The commission ultimately recommended the city council grant the special use permit, subject to various conditions including compliance with all city regulations, fire codes, building permits, and public health requirements.
