This curriculum has not been updated in decades and includes hands-on materials, activities, and a digital platform ready-made for Canvas. The purchase includes enough textbooks for two classrooms per building, with digital components accessible to all students. Student licenses can be used twice per year, making it cost-effective, especially for middle school where health is a yearly requirement.
High School Students and Staff Gain Access to New York Times Subscription
A one-year subscription to The New York Times for high school staff and students was approved. This subscription provides open access to articles, including educational components, archives, and primary resources. The license allows up to 2,000 users within the high school to access the platform simultaneously. The subscription is for high school only, as New York Times educational access requires users to be over 13 years old. The cost is $2,782 for the year.
Probationary Teacher Martin Baker Dismissed
The board approved a motion for the dismissal of probationary teacher Martin Baker for reasons other than Reduction in Force (RIF). The motion passed with all present members voting 'yes'.
Five Star Students Platform Approved for Middle and High Schools
