National Grid Pole Location Agreed Upon for Parkerville Road

A public hearing was continued for a new pole proposed by National Grid on Parkerville Road. An agreement was reached between National Grid, the town's Department of Public Works Superintendent, and Mr. Priscoli regarding the pole's location, with a designated spot chosen in the woods near a culvert that is not near any neighbors. The hearing will be continued to the 16th.

Southboro Awarded $3.9 Million for Culvert Projects

Southboro successfully applied for nearly $3.9 million in grant funding from the state's Community Culvert Grant Program for two culvert projects. This award constitutes 10% of the total construction grants distributed statewide. The town had previously authorized borrowing $3.9 million for this project, and the grant funding will reduce or eliminate the need for this borrowing.

Town Common Fence and Railing Project Moves Forward with Base Bid Approval

The town is considering a project for the town common fence and railing, with a base bid of $70,500 awarded to Neland Construction. This base bid will address the repair of existing damaged sections. Alternate Bid One, which involves replacing components, is significantly more expensive and will be bid separately if needed, as it cannot be skipped according to procurement laws. Alternate Bid Two addresses a missing section, which MassDOT is being asked to take responsibility for. The project aims to be completed before the 2027 centennial.

Select Board Sets Deadline for Goal Submissions Ahead of Retreat

The select board is preparing for a goal-setting retreat on June 8th. Members are asked to submit their proposed goals by Thursday morning, limiting them to no more than 10 per person. Vanessa will compile these into a spreadsheet, categorizing them and identifying overlaps, to facilitate discussion and prioritization during the retreat. The board aims to focus on key priorities and avoid an overwhelming number of goals.
