Penfield Recognizes 250th Anniversary of Declaration of Independence
The Town of Penfield is recognizing the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This milestone offers a chance to reflect on the nation's past, honor American contributions, and look towards future generations. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), including the Mary Fellows Penfield Chapter, is celebrating this history through various community activities. The Mary Fellows Penfield Chapter specifically honors Revolutionary War patriots buried in Penfield, with 12 patriots identified in Oakwood Cemetery. The resolution thanks the chapter for its assistance in commemorating the event.
Supervisor to Host Community Conversation on June 20th
Supervisor Kevin Barry will host his next community conversation on Saturday, June 20th, from noon to 1:00 PM in the senior lounge at the Penfield Community Center. These informal discussions are opportunities for residents to share ideas and ask questions about Penfield's future. Conversations are planned throughout 2026, with July's conversation cancelled and resuming in August. Residents can also submit thoughts via email to supervisor@penfieldny.gov.
Resident Endorses Active Transportation Plan for Safety and Connectivity
Josh Margul spoke in support of the Active Transportation Plan, highlighting its focus on economic development and safety for children and residents. He commended the plan for promoting efficient use of town resources towards connectivity gaps and safety measures, thanking the supervisor, council, and consultants from Colliers. He expressed anticipation for the plan's continued implementation.
Penfield Announces Full Schedule for Independence Day Celebration and Week of Patriotic Events
The Town of Penfield is hosting its annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, June 27th, featuring a parade, activities at Harris-Walen Park with food trucks and live entertainment including The Morgan Twins, and a fireworks display at 10:00 PM. In case of inclement weather, festivities will be moved to Sunday, June 28th. The town is also organizing a week of patriotic activities and events from June 27th to July 4th, including lectures, book discussions, family activities, and an ice cream social.
Annual Pie Social at Dayton's Corners Schoolhouse
The historic Dayton's Corners Schoolhouse and Museum will host its annual pie social on Sunday, June 7th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The event at the intersection of Creek Street and Plank Road will feature free pony rides for children, tours of the museum, and pie and lemonade.
